Lure rod, a type of fishing rod

Lure rod is a type of fishing rod. Lure comes from the English pronunciation of (Lure). The original intention is to seduce. The meaning of temptation, the so-called lure fishing is the bionic bait fishing method, also called artificial bait fishing, which is a method of imitating weak creatures to trigger attacks by big fish. Artificially processed bionic bait imitates the movements or sounds of insects, fish, etc. on the water surface or in the water to induce fish to bite or attack.

Lure rods are different from rods that use floats. They rely entirely on controlling the lure to catch fish. Therefore, the sensitivity, toughness and overall coordination of the rod are very important.

Intuitively, there are two types of lure rods: straight handle (spinning) and gun handle (casting), except for fly rods. However, due to the many styles of artificial baits and the requirements for operating techniques, as well as differences in water areas and target fish, lure rods are divided into many fine types, such as: freshwater bass rods, trout rods, fly rod, sea bass rod, squid rod (egi rod), boat fishing jigging rod and so on.

The lure rod is light in weight and requires high quality of the guide ring on the rod because it requires constant casting during a fishing session. In general casting, a medium-adjusted rod is better to use. For surface-level operations, a fast or extra-fast rod can be used to maximize the vitality of the fake bait.

Choice of pole length

In terms of freshwater lures, the usual lure rod length is between 5’0” and 7’6”. Depending on your height, you can also hold the wheel base with one hand and reach the tip of the pole with the other hand. There are two fishing methods for sea fishing lures in China. One is to use fresh water lures, and sea fishing is done on breakwaters or piers. Rod length is usually chosen between 8’0” and 11’0”. The other is a throwing rod suitable for throwing lures on the reef, and the length is usually 3.3 meters to 5.4 meters (the throwing rod is different from the lure rod, it is the same when using artificial bait).

Lure rod usage tips

There are two types of lure rods, gun handles and straight handles. The gun handle is equipped with a horizontal wheel (such as a water drop wheel, a small drum wheel), with the wheel and guide eye above the pole; the straight handle is equipped with a spinning wheel, with the wheel and guide eye below the pole. There are so many operating techniques that it’s hard to explain them all in just a few words. Simply put, it depends on what kind of bait is used and the target fish. After casting, lower the rod tip and maintain a stable recovery speed. This is the basic and most effective control technique. On this basis, you can also pull the rod tip lightly every few turns to make the lure imitate the fleeing appearance of small fish. You can also pull the rod tip slightly to the left and then to the right when retrieving the line, and repeat this process. This will make the lure in the water move forward in a zigzag shape, making it easier to attract the attention of fish.
