What is fancy kayaking?

Fancy kayaking is a branch of whitewater kayaking. Unlike whitewater rafting kayaking, where the goal is to raft a certain section of the river, kayak paddlers do different techniques in one spot (aka play point). Special kayaks or rowboats called fancy boats are usually used, but any boat can be used to play. The movements and tricks are usually similar to those in snowboarding, surfing, and roller skating, and athletes compete in horizontal turns, somersaults, and U-turns. With the development of kayak manufacturing technology, modern kayaks can vacate people and boats completely.

Competitive kayaking is known as freestyle kayaking (formerly known as "rode").
Play points are usually static features on rivers, especially standups (with blooms or partial blooms), falls, "waterholes" and "brakes" in which some of the water flows upstream, forming stagnant characteristics (usually easy to form under small drops and weirs), and the whirling water line (the dividing line between low-speed water flow and fast water flow near the shore).
The basic movements include front surfing and back surfing; rotation of three axes along any axis; "donkey rolling", wheel rolling, flipping, standing upside down with either end of the boat as a fulcrum, flying (using waves to bounce or pressing part of the boat body) into the water, using buoyancy to eject the water). The boat player usually stays in the feature (as opposed to being flushed out) after completing each action. More complex actions are made by combining these actions.

These actions are scored by the World Rowing Federation and are used in official competitions all over the world.
