The basic process of rotational molding is very simple, that is, powder or liquid polymer is placed in the mold, heated, and rotated around two vertical axes (rotation and revolution).

Coating of release agent: The purpose of coating the release agent on the mold is to facilitate the removal of the product from the mold, and at the same time, it can effectively avoid the damage of the product during demoulding due to the strong adhesion between the product and the mold.

Install inserts and related molding accessories: inserts mainly play the role of local reinforcement, and molding accessories are mainly modules for pointing out ribs or special parts for molding, and they must be properly installed in the newly set position before adding materials to the mold superior;
Loading: Strict metering should be carried out before adding materials. When additives need to be added, the relevant components need to be pre-mixed. Accurately weigh the powdered resin weight required for the final part, add it to the bottom of the separate mold, and then fasten the two half molds together and install them on the bearing shaft;
Mold closing: Before closing the mold, pay attention to removing the remaining material at the mold closing place, and ensure that the two parting surfaces are tightly sealed to avoid material leakage during processing;
Heating: Put the mold filled with materials into the heating furnace (or use other heat sources such as gas flames to heat), the temperature of the heating furnace is set above the melting point of the resin, and the main and auxiliary two axes perpendicular to each other are rotated along with the frame at the same time. . During the rotation process, the mold is heated to a given temperature and then kept warm. The material gradually melts under rotation and heating, sinks on the entire inner wall of the mold cavity, and gradually removes the gas trapped in the material until a well-formed product is formed.
Cooling and shaping: When the resin is fully melted, the mold is transferred to the cooling room, and cooled, where it continues to rotate while cooling by forced ventilation or spraying water.
Demoulding and cleaning the mold: the former should avoid damage to the product during demolding, while the latter should clean up the remaining materials and sundries on the mold to prepare for the next molding cycle.

The rotational molding process has marked advantages over other types of processes. When compared with blow molding and injection molding, rotomolding more easily and cost-effectively produced parts of different sizes. His mold is also relatively cheap since it doesn't have some inner core to craft. And without the inner core, another model can be made with just a little change.
